We thought that you might be interested in what our new home looks like.
As you can see, it's your basic colonial casita (little house). We share it with the Communications Director, Chris. It's located on the south side of town at the wheelchair workshop site. It's basic, but adequate. Since we arrived, numerous improvements have been made, probably in deference to the fact that we're old!
We're still getting the inside of our bedroom organized, so I'm going to put off showing any of those pictures. We share a bath and kitchen with Chris. Actually, we share a bath. Other than sitting at the dining table and eating lunch with us (brought to us from the main site on the north side of Antigua) or working on his computer, the kitchen is all ours. He doesn't cook! He doesn't even know how to turn on the stove (propane four-burner). He does use the microwave. We find Chris to be very copacetic.
What is really great about our site is that we are in Antigua. Housing here can be very expensive, so this is a definite plus, especially with Cuaresma (Lent) and Semana Santa (Holy Week) coming in April. During that time of the year, housing costs skyrocket as tourists come here.
When we return after preparing our house for sale, we will move into a rental of our own here. When we do, we'll probably have to be outside Antigua proper, just to find something affordable.
