La Antigua has a lot of symbols, but one of the most photographed is the Arch on Calle del Arco. By the way, although the peak is covered in clouds, that's Volcan Agua in the background, another La Antigua landmark
The arch was built to join the two sides of a monastery for cloistered nuns. It allowed them to cross from one side to the other without violating their cloister rule. Now, it's owned by a hotel and no one is allowed in the Arch, except the repairman who keeps the clock running.
