Too Tired to Cook

We are so out of energy that we fixed oatmeal for supper with a cup of hot tea and called it done. Of course we had to walk for two forevers to get 1) local money, 2) some (but not all) necessary items from the store, and 3) a new sim card for the phones.  A return trip will be necessary to get fresh veggies to make a soup for tomorrow (which Don has offered to our roommate,Chris) since he does NOT cook. Adding enough for one more is really no big deal.

A Note on the kitchen: It is nonfunctional. That sums it up. The last several guests did not cook and our roommate does not cook. Of course, most staff are fed breakfast and lunch so our young friend just goes out and finds something or saves a portion of lunch for later. We will soon have a soup pot and will be set.

We are partly unpacked but have a long way to go. The trip to the store gained us 12 clothes hangers and that is just a good beginning. Don will use the desk (that has no chair) for his 'smalls' and I have a three drawer end table/cabinet for mine. It is really too tall to be an end table but too small to be anything else, in other words, I have no idea what it is but it will work.

Our room fronts on a fairly busy cobblestone street and so it is noisy. In Iowa we can hear the highway from our house but got used to it and we will here also. At least cars are moving and going somewhere so that the noise is gone quickly.  We did buy some good ear plugs and will use them. Don mentioned that the room is spartan and that is true but it is large enough so you do not feel hemmed in. The bed now has legs attached, there is a closet that has been added and a couple of plastic chairs will take care of the seating problem. Typing on the bed is really hard on the back (Don has the desk out in the front hall/foyer/entry (not sure what that space should be called.)) At the end of this space it opens into the kitchen-dinning room. Outside of our bedroom door is another room, empty except for a large table/desk and just off of that is the bathroom free standing sink, toilet and a Guatemalan shower WITH shower curtain.
